Katie Koullas's book arrived last night and I stayed up well past my bedtime reading this beauty! Thank you, Katie and your team of writers and illustrators, for this fantastic contribution to the literature of how to best care for and support our trans/autistic youth. As a pediatric therapist, researcher, and also a proud parent of an older child who is both autistic and trans, I really appreciate your evidence-based approach to sharing this vital information! Very readable. Beautiful illustrations. I zipped through this in two days and I am going to give it another read now. I highly recommend this book for any parent starting this journey, or like me- a solid 10 years into the journey with my child- as you will learn something new and feel so proud and empowered to advocate for your child. Also great for teachers, school board members, clinical therapists (OT,PT, Speech), caregivers, and those in counseling professions. This is such a unique and valuable resource!

    I loved the interview aspects of this book. If you are a parent going through it with your autistic child - this book will make you feel less alone, you are not the only one struggling with your ladybugs mental health, school transition, meltdowns, and shutdowns.

    The book in itself was very informative for parents beginning to navigate their journey with their autistic girls and was an excellent read in many areas. This was very well done. Girls but there was a section that promoted affirming the trans ideology. Affirming can lead to the medicalization of our children so this is a very touchy subject. The book did not touch on the long term mental health and health issues this can lead to. This was one sided. If this is what you are seeking, it will be worth the read. If you are not approving of the gender ideology, this book will not be for you.
