After my partner's rotator cuff surgery, we tried several types of ice packs and wraps. This was exactly what he needed: heavy enough to stay in place but not too heavy; sitting securely over the shoulder (so he didn't have to hold it on with the other hand or stay still in his chair) without cumbersome straps. The shape, coming over the neck and the other shoulder, helped too because the shoulder strap of his sling made those areas sore. The pack gets very cold but this was good since it was December, and he was wearing a robe or hoodie over his shirt. If you were dressed more lightly, you should put a light towel or something between the pack and your body. I see that some reviewers did not like the wrap's cover but we found it fine, cloth-like rather than plastic, and easy to wipe off (it does not come off to launder). It is good to put a light towel under the pack when you put it in the freezer to help prevent surface frosting--not a serious problem, easily avoided. We bought two to have one in reserve. Excellent value, just what the doctor should have ordered! (Note: we have not used it as a heat wrap, only cold.)

Not much to this product
This product has hardly any gel in it. My photos may not be the best, but I hope you can see how flat the product is in the first photo and I'm trying to show how thin it is in the second photo. I would not recommend this product. The other ice / heat packs that i have must be at least 5 times thicker than this product. Not happy with it.
