I purchased this can opener due to my wife's hand arthritis . The first time we used it, liquid spilled out as it opened the can. The second time we used it, my wife cut her hand. The third time we used it on a small diameter can, and the opening mechanism caught on the top rim and it would not release the lid, no matter how hard I tried. So, today I returned the opener with a piece of the rim still stuck between the blade and the serated metal disk. This can opener cuts into the wall of the can just below the top seam, instead of cutting around the lid insife the top seam, hence the spillage when the contents are packed in water.
